System Design

Our System Design engineering reflects a solid and time-tested approach which sets the direction of the product component or system and networking design effort. Our engineers collaborate to develop a comprehensive system concept and detailed specifications.

Our goal is to design the best technical solution possible based on Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products. The system’s core COTS components form the baseline networking design and allow cost effective integration of the following:
  • Peripheral hardware
  • Software applications
  • System utilities
  • Peripheral hardware drivers

A COTS-based systems design offers opportunity for higher ROI than proprietary developmental systems and components. In addition, using COTS products allows for more cost-effective system maintenance, sustainment, and enhancement.

We initiate our System Design effort by developing an operational prototype or Initial Production Set (IPS) for proof of concept. This product design must satisfy all of the identified requirements and system specifications. iGov’s Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) & Critical Design Reviews (CDR) serve as a checkpoint assessment of these system and networking design engineering activities and results, as an essential measure of ensuring quality assurance.
