| iGov Completes CMMI SCAMPI B Assessment |
|
McLean, VA., March 11, 2009 - iGov's TACLAN Program Office has moved closer to achieving Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) level three assessment with the completion of a Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) B appraisal. CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. The CMMI methodology guides process improvement across a project, a division, or an entire organization. It enables traditionally separated organizational functions, process improvement and quality goals to become highly integrated. iGov has adopted the CMMI model as the method for process improvement for the TACLAN Program. A CMMI assessment will allow the iGov TACLAN Program Office to provide higher quality products and services for the company's U.S Department of Defense (SOCOM) customers. As expected, the SCAMPI B appraisal identified some issues that need to be addressed prior to performing the SCAMPI A assessment. The iGov TACLAN Program Office is currently implementing an action plan to address these issues and expects to be fully ready to conduct the SCAMPI A assessment in June. According to CMMI experts, it usually takes an organization 18 months to transition from one maturity level to the next. iGov is on track to successfully complete a CMMI level 3 assessment 15 months sooner than typical organizations. iGov is an IT systems integrator specializing in delivering mission-centric IT solutions to its government customers. iGov deploys its people, expertise and processes to execute full lifecycle enterprise and tactical IT programs in the following areas: systems engineering, deployable IT systems, communications and visualization.
